Andrew, if you didn't claim no hoax, I wouldn't have believed it!
Will, didn't I explained well enough how 99% is statistically irrelevant?
The implied precision of a scale that goes by 20% increments is +/-10%.
Therefore, 100% is really the same as 99%... or 95%... or 91%.
By using 99%, you are providing "Superfluous precision."
See the Wikipedia article on
Significant digits
for detailed information on this.
Gee, whiz, Will. That's what I've been trying to say.
In this context, 100% still allows for someone
not
to show up.
Think outside the lowest common denominator of a 4th grade median US education,
where people even use expressions like "
give it 110%
".

Am I the only one offended by Will's derisive anti-otter comment? Otters Organized for Peaceful Species Interactions Everywhere (O.O.P.S.I.E.) will be contacting you, Mr. Davis. Or at least there is a 92% likelihood of such.

Let's start at 3PM.
Damn, I was going to give 110% today.
bill, thanks for clarifying, on first read I thought will was going to get beaten up by otto. i feel much better that otters will be doing the beating.
For the record, I like otters. and otto.

Where's my 99% option?
I don't care about statistical relevance. I just don't like putting down 100% for anything on any subject. So I'll probly top out around 80% now, even though I'll be showing up unless I'm beaten up by otters.
I have no problem with commitment per se. I simply claim not to know the future, and to state that something Is Definitely Going To Happen is philosophically problematic
Though this context may be a safe one, its still something I consider a bad habit; one day you're saying "Oh yeah, I'll definitely be there", and the next you're cackling maniacally in your volcanic lair putting the finishing touches on your army of giant, robotic otters

It's too beautiful of a day for November to not come out, even though I haven't played all year. I think otters are cute.
