The futuristic, mentally anguished, spiritually blessed, and terribly dangerous escaped criminal Riddick emerges again; this time to begrudgingly challenge the takeover of the universe by a creepy and Orwellian invading cult, called the Necromongers.

There's lots of action and atmosphere, and even some humor. You need not have seen the first film Pitch Black in order to appreciate the plot.
