Comeau Field Maintenance Day

Come for as long as you can, from 11:00am-4:00pm, and contribute to the spring repair of our favorite fields. This will also help put us in better standing with the soccer people, the Rec Committee, and the town.

In order to be ready for the first practice of the Spring Soccer League we need to prepare the fields after a winter of snow, wind and rain. As an all volunteer program we rely on all the parents to step up at some stage during the season to help us, and an hour of your time helping prepare the fields is a great opportunity to complete a volunteer task.

On April 11th from 11am-4pm I hope you have an hour or two to drop by the Comeau, even if it's just to bring some beverages and snacks for those that are busy preparing the field for lining on April 12th, and the start of practice on April 15th.

We have an assortment of easy tasks, we need to clean-out the sheds and tidy up, we'll need some garbage bags for all the rubbish. We need to pick up all the storm debris from the field, the twigs and branches that have fallen and maybe fork a few wet areas to help the field dry out. We have some seed to spread too. On April 12th we'll be lining the fields, we need volunteers to help measure and lay-out the fields which we do with a spike and string system. Once the fields are laid out we can spray the white lines. Anyone coming out to help needs to dress appropriately for some mucky jobs. Children are welcome to come and help with the clean-up, but field lining can be a bit messy dealing with paint, so that task is reserved for parents and coaches. We have some spades and forks, and a wheel barrow, but welcome any additional tools that will help make the job easier.
